Morgans Point might have the most fascinating real estate history of all Texas towns. Discovered by Nicholas and Edward Clopper in 1828, this area between San Jacinto and Galveston Bay was home to the first trading outpost in the area. On December 22, 1834 the Cloppers sold this strip of land to James Morgan, who renamed the community Morgans Point. James Morgan famously outbid City of Houston founding father, Augustus Chapman Allen on this real estate purchase.

The enormous trading post and warehouse of supplies accumulated by James Morgan had a direct effect on the success of the Texas army during the Battle for the Republic, fought nearby at the mouth of the San Jacinto River. This proud history remains evidenced today.
