The City of League City is the largest City in Galveston County. The 2010 Census places the population of League City at 83,560 which represents an 83% percent population growth since 2000. Originally settled on the grounds of a Kawakawa Indian camp, the town is today a thriving suburb just 25 miles south of downtown Houston and 25 miles north of downtown Galveston. League City surpassed Galveston as Galveston County's largest city between 2000 and 2005.
League City is a town of great natural beauty. In 1907, League had two railroad flatcars of live oak trees were left by the railroad tracks for the residents to plant on their property. Many of these breathtaking Oaks line Main Street to this day. The city is bordered by Clear Creek and Clear Lake. These miles of shoreline are home to the area’s most prestigious marinas.
